   Transforming Exam Patterns.

In a bid to enhance the educational experience and streamline the assessment process, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) has made a significant change to its exam pattern. The university has transitioned from a semester-based system to an annual pattern, offering several advantages for students. This article explores the new exam pattern at RGUKT, including the credit points assigned to different subjects and the evaluation criteria for mid exams, assignments, and final exams.

Annual Pattern and Credit Points:

Under the annual exam pattern, students at RGUKT will now face a single comprehensive assessment at the end of the academic year. This change aims to reduce the burden on students and provide them with a more holistic understanding of their subjects. Additionally, the university has introduced a credit point system, which assigns different weights to various subjects based on their importance and complexity.

Subject-wise Credit Points:

The credit points allotted to each subject at RGUKT vary based on its significance within the curriculum. Telugu carries 2 credit points, while subjects such as English, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science are assigned 3 credit points each. Mathematics, considered a fundamental subject in many disciplines, has the highest weightage with 5 credits. However, it's important to note that the subject of Bio Science does not have any credit points assigned to it, perhaps due to its elective nature or its lesser influence on overall academic progress.

Evaluation Criteria:

The evaluation process at RGUKT incorporates a combination of mid exams, assignments, and final exams. Students' performance in these assessments contributes to their overall grades. Out of the five mid exams conducted, the university selects the best three scores for each student. This approach allows for a fair representation of a student's capabilities and provides them with an opportunity to rectify any shortcomings. Each mid exam carries a weightage of 30 marks.

Assignments, on the other hand, contribute 10 marks to the final grade. These assignments serve as continuous learning opportunities and help students delve deeper into the subjects. They also encourage critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios.

The final exam, held at the end of the academic year, carries the highest weightage of 60 marks. It tests students' comprehensive understanding of the entire course, and their performance in this exam plays a crucial role in determining their final grades.

Conclusion:

The shift to an annual exam pattern at RGUKT signifies the university's commitment to enhancing the learning experience for students. By assigning credit points to different subjects, the institution acknowledges their varying importance and impact on students' academic growth. The inclusion of mid exams, assignments, and a comprehensive final exam provides a balanced assessment approach, giving students multiple opportunities to showcase their knowledge and skills. This revamped exam pattern at RGUKT is poised to provide students with a more comprehensive evaluation system and a greater understanding of their subjects, ultimately preparing them for success in their academic and professional journeys.
